Optoro is made up of a diverse collection of individuals who have come together to achieve a single mission–to transform the reverse logistics industry by finding homes for used and excess goods. We like to highlight that diversity with our Employee Spotlight blog series, during which we sit down with an employee every month to hear a little bit about the people who make the Optoro culture so distinctive.

How would you describe yourself in 10 keywords or fewer?
A compassionate, family-first, risk-tolerant, entrepreneurial and deliberate tinker-thinker.

What is your role at Optoro, and what do you do?
I am a Solution Design Lead on Optoro’s Professional Services team. As a Design Lead, I conduct technical scoping for new business development, lead end-to-end solution design during implementations, and collaborate closely with our product organization on roadmap planning for Optoro’s platform.

What did you do before Optoro, and why did you choose to work at Optoro?
Prior to joining Optoro, I worked at Deloitte Consulting where I helped clients design and implement technology solutions. After Deloitte, I co-founded Sights Consulting, a technology consulting firm that helped Fortune 500 companies design and implement analytics solutions to enable data-driven decision making within their organizations. I chose to work at Optoro because I was looking for a mission-driven technology company building a platform that could change the world. I have always been passionate about the impact that a successfully implemented platform can achieve against the world’s most pressing problems, such as retail sustainability.

What is the most important thing you have learned since starting at Optoro?
The impact people can make on the world is nonlinear; very small groups of people are capable of creating extraordinary outcomes.

What is the best part of working at Optoro?
The best part is the mission in combination with the people. Optoro has a very unique mission to make retail more sustainable by eliminating waste from returns, which has attracted a highly motivated and innovative group of professionals. This combination makes Optoro a really exciting place to work – there is never a dull moment!

What would you most likely be doing on a normal Saturday afternoon in your free time?
I would be enjoying a homemade summer cocktail with my wife and our junkyard dog after climbing a mountain on my new Yeti SB130 Lunch Ride mountain bike in Telluride, CO.
