Optoro is made up of a diverse collection of individuals who have come together to achieve a single mission–to transform the reverse logistics industry by finding homes for used and excess goods. We like to highlight that diversity with our Employee Spotlight blog series, during which we sit down with an employee every month to hear a little bit about the people who make the Optoro culture so distinctive.

What is your role at Optoro, and what do you do?
I am a Senior Associate Product Manager on our Return to Vendor (RTV) team! Our cross-functional team works together to build software that specifically unlocks more profitable and sustainable relationships between retailers and brands. My role often involves learning about market needs, communicating with end users, defining user stories for our engineers, and helping to synthesize our product vision, all in service of delivering a valuable and delightful RTV experience to our clients.
What did you do before Optoro, and why did you choose to work at Optoro?
Prior to Optoro, I worked as a technology consultant at a large consulting firm. I was looking to shift into the product space, as I had greatly enjoyed building products while getting my engineering degree and thought it could be the career path for me. I also wanted to try my hand in the startup world and in an industry I was less familiar with (reverse logistics, anyone?!). Optoro checked all the boxes for what I was looking for in terms of mission, culture, and growth opportunities, so it really was a no brainer!
What is the most important thing you have learned since starting at Optoro?
If you truly put your mind to something, you can create change. I always found it really easy to point out problems and not come up with any solutions, since I felt like my actions wouldn’t make an impact. While working at Optoro, I’ve found that if you believe any one problem needs fixing and put your wholehearted effort into it, you’re going to make an impact and start seeing the positive change that you want.
What is the best part of working at Optoro?
Hands down, the people! Every single day, I find myself learning something new from someone at Optoro. Everyone is so smart and driven – I constantly feel like I’m challenged and learning in the way that I want to be. Not to mention, whenever I want to talk about the latest Bachelor updates, go on a coffee run, or share some travel stories, there’s always plenty of people to jive with.
What would you most likely be doing on a normal Saturday afternoon in your free time?
Outside of work, I am captain of a competitive bhangra team – so on a Saturday afternoon, I would likely be at practice dancing my heart out with my teammates!
